Legion and Auxiliary supper is Oct. 19

ORANGEVILLE - The Orangeville Legion and Auxiliary chili and soup supper will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Orangeville Village Hall, 104 N. Church St., Orangeville.

The menu will include chili, ham and bean soup, vegetable soup, ham and cheese sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, and more. Tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for children 5 to 10, and children under 5 eat free. Tickets can be purchased from any Legion or Auxiliary member, as well as at the door. Carryouts will also be available.

Proceeds from the event will go toward a memorial at Sunset Acres Cemetery. For more information about the supper, call (815) 871-3584.

Diabetes support group to meet

MONROE - The Monroe Clinic Diabetes Support Group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the New Glarus Room of Monroe Clinic Hospital, Monroe. The topic of the meeting will be "Emergency Medicine: Do I need to call 911?"

Host Traci Newcomer, RN, and a member of Green County EMS will discuss how to determine if medical symptoms warrant a call to 911 or a trip to the emergency room. Attendees are encouraged to bring a support person. For questions, call (608) 324-2166.

Swiss steak dinner slated for Oct. 12

MONROE - The Green County Veterans Memorial Park, Inc. will sponsor a Swiss steak dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Monroe American Legion Post No. 84, 1627 12th Ave., Monroe.The cost is $10 per plate, which will include Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls and more.

Autumn Fest is Oct. 22

MONROE - St. John's United Church of Christ will celebrate Autumn Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in Fellowship Hall, 1724 14th St., Monroe. Lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The annual event, which is open to the public, will feature a silent auction, craft and bake sales, handiwork crafted by St. John's members and Sewing Ladies, a Kid's Corner, and more.
