Monroe Truck donates to Big Brothers Big Sisters
MONROE - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Green County School Friends program started the new year with gifts from Monroe Truck Equipment, Inc. employees.
Monroe Truck Equipment, Inc. hosted a Mitten Tree in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Employees donated office supplies, snacks used at the after-school mentoring program, games and money.
The program currently serves 191 matches in five schools and in the group's community program.

MTG holding auditions for upcoming production
MONROE - The Monroe Theatre Guild will be holding auditions for its upcoming production of "Almost, Maine" from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 28; 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29; and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the MTG, 910 16th Ave.
The romantic comedy is set in a mythical town in Maine on a cold winter night and will be performed in late March. MTG is looking for men and women who are in their 20s to late 30s (or look like they are) for this show. Those interested in auditioning should come prepared to read from the script alone or with others.

Fisheree slated for Sunday
MONTICELLO - The Green County Conservation League and Monticello Lions Club will sponsor the Lake Montesian Fisheree on Sunday, Jan. 29.
Fishing is available until 3 p.m.
There will be a raffle with cash and other prizes, as well as prizes for largest fish in various species and largest/smallest fish. There is $250 available in prize money.
The fisheree has no entry fee; however, those who participate must purchase raffle tickets to be eligible for fish prizes.

Scholarship being offered to former MHS grads
MONROE - The Thelma Blackbourn Memorial Scholarship, a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc., is offered to previous graduates of Monroe High School who are studying in the field of education.
Preference may be given to students who have community service experience and/or who work part-time while attending school and to those who may be in financial need but this is not a restriction.
The deadline for applications, transcripts and related scholarship materials is March 1.
