Alumni helps raise money for students

MONTICELLO - The Wisconsin Alumni Association Green County Chapter held their annual Founder's Day dinner on May 13 at The Dining Room at 209 Main in Monticello.

The purposes of the club are to plan educational and social events for UW Alumni and friends of the University, to encourage promising local students to attend the university, and raise money for scholarships for Green County students attending University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Representatives from the Wisconsin Alumni Association and the UW Foundation attended and greeted guests. Guest speaker was Professor Robin Shepard of UW Extension, who gave an entertaining program with samples on the varieties of beer produced in Wisconsin.

Fifty year members - Ruth Sybers, Nancy Blakslee, Barney Easterday, Bob Crandall, Dr. Merlin Olson, Art Carter, Bill Gyure and Dr. John Irvin - were recognized.

Current chapter officers are: Dave Mosher, president; Kris Baumgartner, vice president; Bill Hustad, secretary; and Mike Klassy, treasurer.

Other board members are Bob Crandall, Teri LaBorde, Bill Hustad, Douglas Pinnow, Ed Pas, Kris Baumgartner, Dr. Ray Pawlisch, Mandy Pas and Maureen Dembski.
