Albany Historical Society Program November 17
Monticello Woolen Mill
The Monticello Woolen Mill began operation in 1866 as a water-powered mill on the Little Sugar River. A history of the mill will be presented by Doug Buehl after the Monticello Area Historical Society meeting March 21.

ALBANY — The next monthly meeting of the Albany Historical Society will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Following a short business meeting, the guest speakers will be Kim and Doug Buehl. They will be giving a presentation about the historic Monticello Woolen Mill. Doug will trace the history of the factory, and Kim will talk about the restoration of the Woolen Mill limestone warehouse into a residence. The mill dates back to 1866, and was powered by the water of the Little Sugar River.

Join for an entertaining lesson in Green County history, as well as some insight into the process of historic building restoration. Doug has authored a book about the mill, and Kim has a collection of vintage blankets that were made at the mill.

The Albany Historical Society is located at 119 North Water Street in Albany.

Also available will be pictures of the Albany Woolen Mill that was powered by Sugar River.
