4-H members compete in Animal Day

MINERAL POINT - Area Animal Science Day was held June 28 at the Iowa County Fairgrounds. Members of 4-H groups in Green County competed in the dairy and livestock judging events to try to earn the right to attend the State 4-H Dairy and Livestock contests later this summer.

Green County results are:

The Junior Dairy Judging team, coached by Aaron and Nicole Breunig, placed eighth. Team members included: Katie Raskovic, New Glarus 4-H; Rachel McCullough, Spring Grove Honest Workers 4-H; Clayton Mahlkuch, Juda Jolly Juniors; Brian McCullough, Spring Grove Honest Workers 4-H; Cole Mahlkuch, Juda Jolly Juniors 4-H; Aaron Makos, Spring Grove Honest Workers 4-H; and Averey Marean, Cheese Country Clovers 4-H.

The Senior Dairy Judging team, coached by Kelsi Mayer and Mike Marean, placed fourth. Members were: Brooks Hendrickson, Dayton Dairylanders 4-H; Ryan Smith, Washington Center; and Haley Reeson, York 4-H. Hendrickson placed sixth overall in the category and Smith placed 12th overall.

The Senior Livestock team, coached by Alissa Grenawalt, Carl Huschitt and Eric Beckman, placed fifth. Team members were: Kayla Klitzman, Dayton Dairylanders 4-H; Troy Gorr, Jolly Mixers 4-H; Crystal Novak, Clarno 4-H; Rustin Alton, Hiawatha 4-H; Ryan Alton, Hiawatha 4-H; Colin Novak, Clarno 4-H; Caleb Novak, Clarno 4-H; Emma Peterson, Clarno 4-H; Brittany Beckman, Clarno 4-H; Mitch Millner, Clarno 4-H; Kelsey Klitzman, Dayton Dairylanders 4-H; and Traiten Gorr, Jolly Mixers 4-H. Kayla Klitzman placed fifth overall in the category; Troy Gorr placed 18th overall; Crystal Novak placed 19th overall; and Rustin Alton placed 20th overall.

Members were: Reece Rufer, Hiawatha 4-H; Santiago Hernandez, Clarno 4-H; Colten Beckman, Clarno 4-H; Luke McCullough, Young Americans 4-H; Timmy Andersen, Clarno 4-H; Lukas Andersen, Clarno 4-H; and Owen Huschitt, Clarno 4-H. Rufer placed 12th overall; Hernandez placed 14th overall; Beckman placed 24th overall; and Luke McCullough placed 25th overall in the category.
