MONROE — Appointments are now available for free income tax preparation services for low to moderate income, elderly and disabled persons through the AARP Foundation/Tax-Aide program. Assistance provided includes the preparation of federal and state (including homestead) income taxes. 

Appointments are available in Monroe on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Feb. 5 through April 10.  Appointments start at 8:30 a.m. with the last appointment at 11:30 a.m. at the Green County Government Services Building, N3152 Wis. 81, Monroe. Call the ADRC at 608-328-9499 to schedule an appointment. Enter at the ADRC entrance at the lower level parking lot.

This year taxes will be prepared in person and only one appointment is required. However, taxpayers will be required to obtain a packet of information from the ADRC prior to the appointment and must complete the forms in the packet before the appointment. The packet also includes a list of items to bring with to the appointment. The ADRC can also email the contents of the packet to be printed out and prepared at home if it’s more convenient.  

They will not be preparing returns in Brodhead this year due to a shortage in staffing.
