Monroe Main Street

To the editor,

We would like to thank all who participated in the Main Street St. Patrick's Day activities. Thank you to the YMCA for another successful "Run Before You Crawl" 5K to start our week. We had a great turn out for the annual Pub Crawl. Thank you to Green County EMS for once again offering the Safe Ride Program, Eoin Breadon for his glass-blown pint, our bagpipers Mike Ganshert and Dan Stormont, all the check-in volunteers and the eight pubs.

We had a wonderful day of activities for the whole family. Kris Alt and her staff had a fun morning of activities. Wanda and her staff at Turner Hall were great host for the Great Gaelic Gala. Mary Schmidt and her team of volunteers from the Humane Society ran the game room for the kids. Monroe Junior Optimist did the face painting. We thank the band Sweet Life for entertaining us.

The weather was perfect for the Monroe Main Street parade. A huge thank you to Fred Kelley and his staff for their work in keeping the parade running smooth. Always great to have the fire department start the parade and the EMS finish off. Thank you to our bag piper Mike Ganshert, Mayor Bill Ross and our royalty: Queen of the Green Barb Miller, Celtic Princess Donna Stingley, and Grand Marshal Scott O'Brien. Also, the Monroe Lions Club for the trip to Ireland raffle.

Thank you to all the Irish and Irish wannabes who came out and enjoyed the activities and watched the parade. The last thank you is a huge one to our family who helped to make this a successful Irish week. We appreciate all you do and this would not have happened without you.
