I believe President Obama showed strong leadership in his State of the Union address and his meeting with the Republican caucus. His openness, respect for differing points of view and willingness to seek common ground on issues is what we need. I was disappointed in some of the congresspersons who seemed to be trying to score political points rather than engage in a meaningful exchange on the issues. I think we are all tired of endless campaigning and want some problems solved. That can only happen if people respect each other and try to work together for the common good. I don't agree with all of President Obama's positions, but I do respect his desire to seek the best solutions based on facts, not ideology or emotion.
I do believe we must reform our healthcare system in order for all Americans to have coverage. It is the moral thing to do and in light of the rampant immorality we see everyday, it would be nice to have our government lead us to a more just and caring society.
