To the Editor:
I hope everyone will vote before 8 pm Nov. 5th. Voting is a civic duty and a privilege we must not lose. Before then, I want to share some thoughts I hope you will consider.
It has been said that people are most concerned with the economy/inflation, border issues and the troubles they have caused, and rising crime rates as we face this election.
It has also been said that personality is a quality many base political choices on. I submit that if we are concerned about improving the economy, stopping border porousness and the dangers of violent crime, sound policies should be our hallmark, not a politician’s personality.
I urge everyone to examine the policies each presidential candidate has enacted, how they have affected the issues we care about, and what they are specifically proposing for the future. The same process should be used in choosing legislative candidates.
It is important to research what candidates and others say about their platform, not what opponents say of them. We get lots of mailers and see/hear many campaign ads. The ones that speak positively about candidate positions will be the most useful.
In that way we will vote for the people whose actions will move us to become the nation we want to live in and leave to our children. Policies always trump personalities.
As to the slightly different issue of whether ONLY citizens should have the privilege of voting in American elections, why would a nation want it any other way? This referendum will make it crystal clear if we vote yes.
