To the Editor:

As a district resident, I encourage others to attend the Meeting of the Elector’s at 6:30 at MHS on 7/17 (doors open at 4:30).  A YES vote will allow the School District of Monroe to proceed with the planning and study phase of the B & S property located on the north side of town to build the much needed and anticipated high school.  All contingencies must be met or mitigated, or the default will be the current location where kids will attend during construction and outdoor sports (games & practices) will have to be moved elsewhere for 3 years. The B & S property is more cost effective and larger acreage than the current property which will allow most sports to occur on the same campus.  The emphasis is not necessarily on sports, but the sports complexes just require more space, while the interior of the high school will also focus on additional classroom and learning space, improved programming for the trades and ADA compliant facilities. CG Schmidt is a reputable company that will ensure this entire project is done well and within the referendum budget. Let’s ensure ‘Monroe brings you back’!
