Many of us in the 51st Assembly district have received flyers from the "American Federation for Children," an organization that funds campaigns nationwide for legislators who support paying for private religious education with public funds. The flyer falsely accuses Jeff Wright of "double dipping."
Jeff Wright is a highly respected, conscientious and capable individual who currently serves as assistant superintendent of Sauk Prairie public schools. The school district has asked him to remain in a very limited capacity to complete projects he has been working on. He has stated that when he is elected to the state Assembly, he will step away from his work at the school district and work full time on behalf of the citizens of the 51st district. In short, he will not be "double dipping."
Voters in our district should not be misled by lies being spread by an out-of-state, "dark money" group that is spending tens of thousands of dollars to defeat Jeff Wright. Jeff believes that strong public schools are the very foundation of our democracy, and he will be a strong advocate for our rural public schools. His opponent's consistent support for private-school vouchers will only continue the steady erosion of state support of our public school system.
Jeff Wright will bring a breath of fresh air to our state legislature by putting our interests ahead of special interests that now dominate politics and public policy in Wisconsin. Please join us in supporting Jeff Wright for Assembly on Nov. 8.
