As cheese makers in southern Wisconsin, we are grateful to be practicing our craft in an area of the state that is blessed with a great history, people and landscape. Green County has a rich history of cheese making; which still is being carried on strongly today. In fact, Green County is the top cheese-producing county in Wisconsin.
We'd like to take this opportunity thank Rep. Brett Davis, who has been a great friend to dairy, agriculture and small business in our area. Every year, the dairy industry pumps more than $20 billion into our state's economy, which works out to $39,000 per minute. Brett Davis recognizes the significant economic impact of the dairy industry, and has been a strong advocate for our families and communities.
Brett has led numerous pieces of legislation to help keep Wisconsin the dairy state. Brett authored and led the Dairy Manufacturing Tax Credit through the State Assembly. The bill would give an incentive for the modernization or expansion of existing facilities, which would have a significant positive economic impact on our area. One of the key challenges we face is competing not only with states like California, but increasingly with other countries in a global marketplace.
We think Brett Davis has been doing an excellent job representing our area's economic interests and our values. Brett is a proven leader that will continue to get the job done for us and help get our state and local economy moving again. We hope you will join us in supporting him on Nov. 4.
