Since our 2008 season has ended at the Green County Historical Museum, I would like to give out several blossoms. >Blossoms to the people who donated or loaned us wedding dresses for this season's special display. So many people enjoyed seeing the dresses and are now anxious to see what we will feature in 2009. Also, a blossom to The Monroe Times and WEKZ for giving us much-needed publicity. A blossom to the members and friends who donated their time on Saturdays and Sundays to keep the museum open, to those who cleaned, filed, weeded, mowed and did other jobs, thank you so much. Special blossoms go to Matt Figi for his successful Pictorial Book of Monroe that continues to bring money in that supports the museum. A blossom to Jake Scherer for allowing us to use his parking lot to unload items and for letting us use his lot for Cheese Days; and to Hedy Swiggum, Carol Mayer and Greg Iserman for again working so hard Saturday of Cheese Days and thinking up ways to make money for the museum. We appreciate the support of all the people who visited the museum this season, and we are looking forward to seeing you at the museum for the 2009 season. - Christie Strait, president of the Green County Historical Society>

A blossom to the person >that found my purse in a Wal-Mart shopping cart and turned it in to the Wal-Mart manager. There was nothing missing. I thank you so much. There are truly some honest people out there. - Anonymous>

A barb to the person or persons> who vandalized a lot of lawn ornaments in South Wayne Saturday night. My ornaments meant a lot to me, as I'm sure they do to everyone else. I hope someday you will be held responsible for what you did. In the future, I hope you will find better things to do than to destroy other people's property. - Anonymous>

A blossom to Browntown >for allowing the "flower lady" to create the "Garden Path" at the corner of Highway 11 and County M. Sincere thanks to all helpers who shared a most gratifying transformation of a field into a flower path for everyone's enjoyment. And to those attending the July 13 open house. Kudos to the "Devil's Tea Table Trail" crew for keeping Browntown's best-known secret alive! More exciting happenings in '09 ... - Jean Winkler, Browntown>

A very large blossom and thank you for all the people assisting and supporting the Green County Health Department >with the Medication Collection Event on Sept. 23. To Dallas Cecil and the staff of the Green County Highway Department, who have been wonderful in their support of the medication collections. To Jeff Skatrud and the staff of the Green County Sheriff's Department for your support and accommodation of our event. To Dave Grinder and the Monroe Clinic Pharmacy. A critical partner in our medication collections, Dave has been an instrumental part in handling the medications and educating us on medications! Thanks so much for your time! To all the participants of our event who dropped off medications and exchanged their old mercury thermometers. All these partners have been dedicated to assisting us with three separate medication collections, where we have collected, to date, approximately 655 pounds of unused or unwanted medications and hundreds of mercury thermometers, which otherwise would have ended up in our landfills and polluted our waters. Again, a huge blossom to all of the persons involved! - Green County Health Department>

A huge barb to those people >who continue to walk their dogs in and around the edges of Greenwood Cemetery. There is a sign that is very clear that says absolutely NO DOGS! Now come on, quit being disrespectful. There are plenty of other areas you can walk in without having to be on the grass in the cemetery! - Anonymous>
