A barb to the knotheads who sprayed my house and garage with paintballs >on Meyers Road Saturday night. If you had put three of those shots on the garage window I could at least admire a good grouping while cleaning up your mess. And what about that color? Orange? Oh, for God's sake. - Robert C. A huge blossom to St. Victor >for sponsoring its first annual Do Unto Others Dodgeball Tournament. What a great family event. It was great to have such a variety of ages willing to play together for a great cause. Thanks to the organizer who did an excellent job of putting this together. Hope it returns for next year. - Cheri Broge >

Mr. or Ms. "Socialism is Coming": A barb to you, as well.> If you think anything other than the failed trickle-down, laissez-faire economics is socialism, that's your problem. Obama has to clean up the mess that your hero President W. made, and a government intervention is obviously necessary for that. Capitalism is not truly capitalism if the only profits are those derived from worthless paper trades and speculations, and not manufacturing real products. It is the sign of a reckless economic system that eats itself. True capitalism means having healthy competition, which can't exist unless the rules are in play to make it so. - A Progressive>

A barb to all the people that were burning grass and fields >west of Aebly Road this (last) weekend. I couldn't open my windows all weekend due to the heavy smoke and finally left my house with my family to go to the park and eat dinner in town because the smoke was so thick and the smell so bad you couldn't be outside in the beautiful weather. I had work to do outside this weekend and it didn't get done, thanks to all the burning. Please start thinking of your neighbors before you burn. - Smoked Out >

A blossom with a small barb attached to The Monroe Times.> I enjoy the online paper... thank you very much. Since your recent change, though, I do feel it lacks decorum to run the ads that appear at the bottom of the obituary pages. Please reconsider this practice. - Online reader>

A blossom to all the area baseball squads >playing to honor and raise awareness of people with cancer. I wonder sometimes why there are such terrible diseases and how people who get them deal with them in such a positive way. You are all inspirations to the rest of us.

A blossom to all the local community banks, restaurants, stores and numerous individuals >who still, even though economic times are rough, help our youth with post-prom parties.

A blossom to the Monroe Optimists> for once again having their bike rally. Another awesome idea by people of this community with a vision.

A blossom to the proactive yet non-threatening way local schools in Monroe and surrounding area >are reacting to the cases of H1N1. And along with that, a blossom to the health care professionals >who treat these infections, while putting themselves in possible direct contact.

A blossom to our local crossing guards,> thank you for making sure our youth are safe when they cross the street and for taking the time out of your day to watch over them.

And, the biggest blossom of all to all the mothers >in the area. Grandmothers, stepmothers, adoptive mothers, mothers-in-law, or maybe that special gal you just call mom because she seems like one. ... God Bless you all and thank you for all you do. Happy Mothers Day, Moms! - Jeff Ditzenberger, Monticello>
