New Glarus VFW Post 10549 and Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans Chapter 3 want to thank several stationed overseas military persons by sending them a "We Care" package from the States. These brave men and women of our armed forces daily safeguard our freedoms and we feel that this would be a gesture that would be appreciated by them. We have checked with the Post Office, and we can get packages shipped. We want to do this before Christmas, even if the packages arrive after Christmas.
We did this program several times in the past year with great success. We mailed many packages to individuals with ties to the New Glarus, Brodhead, Monroe and other surrounding communities. The "We Care" packages were sent to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Afganistan, Kuwait and the Pacific. Swiss Colony Inc. of Monroe graciously donated some of the items included in these packages.
We would like the cooperation of your readers to get us some names and addresses of military people stationed overseas. We also have several Blue Star Banners that we will give to any family that has a family member serving in the armed forces.
