WISCONSIN DELLS — The Green County Gems finished with one national champion and several other medalists at the YMCA national meet at Woodside Sports Complex held June 19-23.

Vivian Lancaster, competing in Level 2, was the national champion in the Session 2 Junior 9 division with an all-around score of 36.750. She was first overall on the beam (9.300) and uneven bars (9.350). She added a second-place mark on the vault (9.150) and was fifth on the floor (8.950).

Quentin Vestin was the national champion for boys in the Xcel Silver all-around, vault, beam, bars and floor. He was the only male competitor in the Xcel Silver level, and one of three boys in the 14 different levels.

Tess Nafzger, competing in Xcel Gold 15-and-up, was second place in the Session 3 all-around with a 36.275. Nafzger was second place in the beam (8.875) and bars (9.300), third in the vault (9.100) and 11th on the floor (9.000).

In the Session 1, Level 4 13-and-up, Gabi Ryser was second in the all-around (35.075). She was second in the bars (8.800) and beam (9.150), fourth on the floor (9.000) and 11th in vault (8.125).

Riley Nicholson, Melanie Westgard, Jayde Hawkinson and Kyla Ziolkowski all finished third overall in the all-arounds at various levels.

Ziolkowski was the national champ on the floor (9.650) in the Xcel Golf 15-and-up division. She was also sixth on the beam (8.200), fourth on the bars (9.200) and fifth on the vault (9.050).

Nicholson, competing in Level 4 for 10-and-under, was fourth on beam (9.225), fifth in floor (9.000) and sixth in the bars (8.900) and vault (8.300).

Westgard, a Level 4 13-and-up, was third on the floor (9.025), fourth on the bars (8.750) and 10th on the vault and 11th on the beam.

Hawkinson, a Level 1 9-and-up, was the champion on the floor (9.575), third on the vault (9.400), fourth on the beam (9.000) and ninth on the bars.

Aleigh Zettle was fourth in the all-around in the Level 4 13-and-up, and was the champion in the vault (8.950).

Kathryn Kundert was sixth in the all-around in Level 4 13-and-up, and was the champion on the beam (9.325).

Mikayla Schwartzlow, at Level 3 11-and-up, was fourth in the all-around. She finished fifth in bars, sixth in floor and beam and 15th in vault.

Alexis Gertsch, a Level 2 10-and-up competitor, was first in the vault (9.200), second on the floor (9.300) and fourth in the all-around.

Maya Eddy, a Level 1 8-year-old, was fourth in the all-around and third on the vault (9.275). Hailey Rasmussen was also fourth in the all-around and third on the bars (9.300) and floor (9.275) in the Level 1 8-year-old division.

Annie Olson was fourth in the all-around with two fourth-place finishes and two fifth-place finishes in Level 1, 7-and-under.

Others finishing with top-3 medals in individual events include Anna-Kate Glover (second-place bars 9.025, second-place floor 9.300; Level 2, 10-and-up); Analise Newcomer (second place vault; Level 3, 9-and-under); Elise Kuebli (second-place vault 9.325; Level 1, 8-year-olds); Grace Atkinson (third-place vault, 8.650; Level 4, 11-12); and Kaleigh VanWhye (third-place beam (9.300; Level 2, 10-and up).

The Green County Gems and Stateline YMCA out of Beloit co-hosted the event, which brought in about 1,700 competitors from across the nation.
