MONROE - The Monroe City Summer Track and Field Meet brought many children to the track to experiment with various events Tuesday at the high school.
Cammi Ganshert won the 100-meter dash in the second- to fifth-grade girls category with a time of 15.85 seconds; she also won the 200 (:36.31).
The girls 400 relay team of Ganshert, Elise Smith, Erja Smith and Lauren Hlubek finished first with a time of 1 minute, 15.32 seconds.
Elise Smith won the 800 (3:32.90) and Erja Smith took first in the 1,600 (8:46.19). Emily Benzschawel finished first in the softball throw (77 feet, 7 inches) and Anja Teasdale won the long jump ( 9-8).
Evan Thompson won the 100 in the second- to fourth-grade division with a time of 16.60 seconds. Anthony Hernandez took first in the 200 (:35.99), the softball throw (111-4) and the long jump (10-0). Eric Sylvester won the 400 (1:25.31), while Riley Prien took first in the 800 (3:38.52) and Carson Foesch won the 1,600 (8:40.57).
Jordan Hirsbrunner won the 800 (3:07.65) and the high jump (4-4) in the fifth- and sixth-grade girls division. The 400 relay team of Hirsbrunner, Alicia Kuester, Allyce Fahrney and Meghan Finley took first with a time of 1:04.25.
Fahrney finished first in the 100 (:15.40) and Sydney Schultz won the 200 (:33.61) and shot put (22-10). Kuester also won the long jump (12-2).
Sydney Mathiason finished first in the 400 1:20.44 and Karen Dominguez took first in the 1,600 (11:35.85). Carly Arneson won the discus with a throw of 53-2.
In the boys fifth- and sixth-grade division, Carter Sawdey won the 100 (:14.82) and the long jump (14-7). Jake Kind took first in the 200 (:31.89) and in the shot put (21-8).
The 400 relay team of Sam Kind, Drake Ingold, Evan Thompson and David Keegan won with a time of 1:05.67. Drake Ingold won the 800 (2:48) and Jason Koller finished first in the 1,600 (6:21.06). Ryne Miller took first in the 400 (1:15.09) and Nate Smith took the top spot in the triple jump (14-7).
Allie Leutenegger won the girls seventh- and eighth-grade division 1,600 (8:25.27) and the triple jump (20-0). Haley Schmidt won the 800 with a time of 3:13.89 and she was on the winning 400 relay team. Schmidt teamed with Taylor Prechel, Abby Oudinot and Kylea Ambrose to win the 400 relay with a time of 1:08.03. Oudinot added a first-place finish in the long jump (12-1).
Natalie Dillon finished first in the 100 (:15.46) and Kylie Kundert took first in the 200 (:37.12). Shayna Krebs took first in the shot put (21-11).
In the boys seventh- and eighth-grade division, Ian Salzwedel won the 100 (:15.78) and the high jump (4-4). Cody Faust finished first in the 200 (:33.37) and in the long jump (12-3). Evan Studer took first in the discus (28-8).
Anna Voight took first in the girls high school 100 (:20.1), 200 (:53.13) and 400 (2:26.55). Patrick White won the boys high school 100 (:16.78) and 200 (:38.21).
