DEERFIELD - A double check of statistics revealed that the Brodhead-Juda wrestling team won Saturday's Deerfield Scramble over Random Lake instead of finishing second as was originally reported.
After checking his own records, Brodhead-Juda coach Tim Colden noticed tournament organizers had mixed up who pinned who and listed Brodhead-Juda's Logan Maurer (285) as the third-place finisher, when he actually finished in second.
"They circled the wrong kid on the bout sheet," Colden said of the pin.
Colden contacted the Deerfield athletic director, and the error was corrected.
With Maurer credited with the pin, the Cardinals received six additional pin points and four extra place points. The correction raised their final team point total to 643, good for first place ahead of Random Lake's 636.
