“I didn’t get nervous until the tenth frame,” Svendsen said. “I just focused on taking deep breaths and trying not to over think what was happening in my head. I just tried to throw good shots to at least give myself a chance to throw a perfect game.”
Svendsen has been bowling most of her life, from junior league to the Menominee Falls High School team. She then went on to bowl at UW-Whitewater. While Svendsen had come close to a 300 many times in her career, March 5 when she finally hit the mark.
“Throwing a 300 game has always been a goal for as long as I can remember,” she said. “With the experience of bowling at higher competitive levels, I always knew it was possible. I have been able to bowl many high games and series, but that 300 game was just out of reach until last week.”
Svendsen started the Monroe High School Bowling team in 2011, and the Cheesemakers won state in 2017. The bowling team participates in the Wisconsin High School Bowling Club, which is run by the Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin (BCAW).
