MONROE — The 48th annual Monroe City Singles and Doubles tournament was held July 20-21.

For the second year in a row, the Men’s Singles championship was won by Silas Setterstrom, who defeated Preston Engel in three sets for the title. The Women’s Singles division was played as a round robin and was won for the third year in a row by Greta Rath, who finished with a 3-0 record.

In the Men’s Doubles bracket, Joe Soddy and Chris Garrow teamed up to defeat last year’s champions, Silas Setterstrom and Frank Meier, in three sets. In the Women’s Bracket, Greta Rath paired with Brenda Gottsacker to defeat Emily Boyd and Kelsey Erickson.

Overall, 19 men entered the tournaments with six playing both singles and doubles while 16 women entered the tournament with four playing both singles and doubles.
