NEW GLARUS - The Raiders used two first half goals to fuel their way to a 4-2 win over Wisconsin Heights in Capitol South action Tuesday night.
Sophomore sensation Hannah Kernen scored 5 minutes, 36 seconds into the game for Sugar River, and Laura Durst scored exactly two minutes later to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead.
The Vanguards scored a goal in the 25th minute to bring the score back to within a single goal before halftime.
In the second half, sophomore Katie Viney got on the board, scoring right away in the 48th minute. Kernen added her second goal of the game in the 54th minute to make the score 4-1. Wisconsin Heights scored its final goal in the 58th minute.
Senior Kaitlyn Schluter had three assists in the game for the Raiders, who are now 6-2 on the season overall.
It was Sugar River's fourth game in as many days and sixth game in the past week. The Raiders still have four more games to play by the end of this week, the next of which is on Thursday at Stoughton. Sugar Rivers hosts Monroe on Friday and plays in a four-team tournament in DeForest on Saturday.
