Raiders upend Lakeside

BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River girls soccer team is in the driver's seat to repeat as Capitol Conference champions after a 9-0 win over Lakeside Lutheran Tuesday.

Sugar River's Hannah Donlin scored two goals. Sugar River juniors Vanessa Narveson and Taylor Legler each scored two goals and had one assist.

Sugar River junior Brooke Larson scored the first goal for the Raiders on an assist from Legler at 4 minutes, 45 seconds. Donlin scored moments later on an assist from Larson to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead. The Raiders erupted for seven first-half goals to roll to the win. Legler scored both of her goals in the first half.

Sugar River goalkeeper Paige Natzke had two saves.

Sugar River (12-2-1, 5-0 Capitol Conference), ranked No. 4 in the Division 3 Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association state poll, is just ahead of Lodi (4-0) in the race for a conference title. It was the first game for Sugar River in two weeks.

Sugar River has three more conference games left, including a key conference game against Lodi May 28 in Belleville.
