MONTICELLO - Marissa Berg had 16 kills and helped propel the Ponies to a three set win over Juda in a Six Rivers East clash Thursday, Sept. 12.

It didn't come easy as Monticello won two close sets in a 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 win over the Panthers.

With the win, Monticello improved to 4-1, 3-0 Six Rivers East.

"She (Berg) had a monster tonight," Monticello coach Scott Smice said.

Smice wasn't overlooking Juda.

"I'm not surprised by how well they played," he said. "They played with that same intensity at Barneveld. Juda is a very scrappy team. They don't give up. They keep going at it all the way."

Monticello junior Alyssah Kubly delivered nine kills and three blocks. Senior Paige Dilley added six kills.

Monticello senior Claire Geitzel had a team-high 15 digs and senior Clare Bruns had 31 assists.

"Jade Green and Jordan Garrison played great defense and as a coach that helps me," Smice said.

Brodhead 3, Parkview 0

BRODHEAD - Carly Mohns and Rachel Heller had a big match for Brodhead as the Cardinals rolled to a 25-12, 25-10, 25-22 win over Orfordville Parkview.

Barneveld 3, Argyle 0

BARNEVELD - Argyle coach Shelby Rideout and the Orioles can't wait for a rematch against Barneveld after dropping a three set match to the Eagles 25-16, 25-23, 25-18.

"It really came down to confidence tonight," Rideout said. "Our hitting and blocking wasn't very good. Barneveld is a really good team and they can exploit that."

Argyle (3-2, 2-1 Six Rivers East) was led by freshman Kayla Butler-Paulson who had 14 assists and senior Rachel Saalsaa who had 13 digs. Argyle junior Jenna Langmeier added four kills and senior Jessica Treuthardt had two blocks.
