MONTICELLO - Senior J.J. Hogan and freshman Drew Schliem combined to pitch a five-inning no-hitter on Tuesday, propelling the Pecatonica baseball team to a 12-1 victory against Monticello in Six Rivers East Conference play.
"We just never made solid contact. Hogan and Schliem kept us off balance," Monticello coach Jason Pinnow said.
Hogan went three innings, allowing an unearned run in the third. He had four strikeouts and four walks. Schliem recorded two strikeouts and allowed a walk.
Sophomore Tyler Hodgson ripped a three-run triple in the first inning, and senior Tanner Kleppe and Hogan each added two RBIs for the Vikings.
Black Hawk 6, Albany 5
SOUTH WAYNE - Junior Merik Meythaler pitched a complete game and the Warriors rallied to beat the Comets in eight innings.
Meythaler gave up three earned runs on nine hits. He struck out seven.
Black Hawk (4-11, 4-10 Six Rivers East) trailed 3-1 after two innings. The Warriors scored three runs in the fourth to take a 5-4 lead.
Black Hawk had just four hits, including doubles by Cory Rupnow and Mike Powers.
Albany sophomore Mitchell Kauk and junior Patrick Deegan were each 2-for-4. Senior Ty Mauerman was 2-for-5 with a double.
Iowa Grant 12, Darlington 6
DARLINGTON - Freshman Cole McDonald went 3-for-5 and senior John Sturtz and junior Griffin Heinberg hit home runs for Darlington (1-11, 0-9 SWAL).
Big Foot 6, Brodhead-Juda 3
WALWORTH - Brodhead-Juda senior Tate Harnack and junior Hunter Colden each were 2-for-3.
Junior Trent Gerlach pitched six innings and gave up six runs (three earned) on six hits. He struck out five and walked two.
Barneveld 17, Argyle 3
ARGYLE - Three Argyle pitchers walked 13 and the Orioles committed five errors in a loss to Barneveld.
Sophomore Alec Treuthardt went 2-for-3 to lead the Orioles.
