JUDA - If Amber Ramos was at all fatigued from an 18-strikeout performance on Monday, it sure didn't show Tuesday afternoon.
The senior pitcher fired a no-hitter and went 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead Juda-Albany's 14-hit attack in a 10-0 victory against Barneveld in Six Rivers East Conference play.
It's the first no-hitter this season for Ramos, who fired three of them as a junior.
"She was again working ahead in the count and hitting her spots," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said of Ramos, who recorded 18 strikeouts in the Panthers' 1-0 victory against Monticello on Monday.
"We made a couple nice defensive plays behind her and then scoring the runs and getting the lead always helps. It's kind of demoralizing to a team if you fall down four or five runs against her because then they're thinking, 'How are we going to get four runs against her?'"
Ramos received plenty of help offensively, as senior Katlyn DeVoe went 2-for-4 with a double, junior Jessica Rackow was 3-for-4, junior McKayla Trotter was 2-for-2 and senior C.J. Dunwiddie was 2-for-4. Junior Kirstie Kauk, DeVoe and Dunwiddie each had two RBIs for the Panthers (9-5, 5-0 Six Rivers East).
Argyle 7, Pecatonica 6
BLANCHARDVILLE - Senior Danielle Treuthardt went 3-for-3 and Jessica Treuthardt sparked a three-run rally in the fifth inning to give the Orioles a Six Rivers East Conference win over the Vikings Tuesday.
Sophomore Jessica Treuthardt was the winning pitcher as she walked one and struck out six while scattering 10 hits. With the Orioles trailing 5-3, Jessica Treuthardt led off the bottom of the fifth with a base hit and moved to third on senior Frida Cuevas' one-out single. With two outs, No. 9 batter Jenna Langmeier delivered an RBI single, scoring Treuthardt. Cuevas and Lagmeier each scored on passed balls which gave the Orioles a 6-5 lead.
Argyle (3-4, 2-1 Six Rivers East) added an insurance run in the sixth and survived rally by the Vikings (4-6, 1-3) in the bottom of the seventh. Junior Michelle Francois led off with a base hit and was sacrificed to second. Senior Katie Sather followed with an RBI double that brought home Francois and became the tying run in scoring position. Sather advanced to third on Molly Hendrickson's ground out, but Treuthardt got sophomore
Julia Meyer to ground out to end the game. Freshman Emily Scoville struck out seven and allowed just three earned runs while taking the loss for the Vikings.
Lodi 21, New Glarus 2
NEW GLARUS - Two big innings powered Lodi to the Capitol Conference crossover win.
