MONROE - Senior Cole Murray reached the 100-career-win milestone Friday during the Monroe High School wrestling team's 40-17 dual meet win over Monona Grove-McFarland.

At 145 pounds, Murray defeated Monona Grove-McFarland's Tysen White 10-1.

"It's a good accomplishment for him," Monroe coach Tom Witt said. "It's really being consistent. In most cases it takes four years. Hopefully, he has a ton more wins to come."

Monroe (9-4, 3-0 Badger South) won nine of the 11 matches wrestled.

Witt said several wrestlers had to wrestle up a weight class since three varsity wrestlers missed the meet due to disciplinary reasons.

The Cheesemakers are unbeaten in the conference but still have to wrestle Stoughton, ranked No. 1 in Division 1, and Milton, which is ranked ninth.

The Cheesemakers got pins from junior Dempzy Foley (182), freshman Bodie Minder (195) and junior Tyson Welsch (heavyweight). Foley pinned Monona Grove-McFarland's Michael Hoye in 5 minutes, 55 seconds, Minder pinned Monona Grove-McFarland's Reese Baker in 2:42, and Welsch pinned Mitchell Roeder in 3:25.

Monroe freshman Alex Witt (132) defeated Katelynn Gunderson 6-2. Junior Travis Wolf (145) beat Monona Grove-McFarland's Cailen Andrews 9-5, and freshman Patrick Rielly (160) defeated Connor Jacobson 6-4. At 170, Monroe junior Sam Kind defeated Zach Long 5-2. Monroe sophomore Gabe Witt received a forfeit.

"We had to gut out a lot of those matches because our kids were giving up weight," Witt said. "Our kids found a way."

The Cheesemakers host the Monroe Invitational today.
