STOUGHTON - The Cheesemakers led Stoughton by 11 points at halftime, but the Vikings pulled out the swords in the second half as they came back to knock off Monroe 71-57 Tuesday night.

Stoughton was just two of 10 on 3-pointers in the opening half, which helped Monroe jump out to a 38-27 lead on the co-conference leading Vikings (4-1, 3-0 Badger South). The Cheesemakers (3-4, 2-2) could only muster 19 points in the second half.

Stoughton, meanwhile, went off from distance in the second, hitting seven of 13 3s.

Vikings senior Tommy McClain scored 20 points to lead all scorers. Senior teammate Brady Schipper added 17, and Max Fernholz chipped in 13.

For Monroe, Kade King had 17, while Brayden Zettle (12), David Keegan (11) and Hunter Ward (10) all joined the double-digit party. Just two other Cheesemakers, Noah Tostrud (5) and Ivory Selmon (2) put the ball through the netting.

Monroe is now off until Dec. 30 when the Cheesemakers host Elkhorn at 3 p.m.
