CUBA CITY - The Monroe Mat Rats laid the wood down this past weekend in Cuba City.
Four youth wrestlers tousled and pinned their way to first place championships over January 12 and 13.
Dylan Scace earned the first Mat Rats top honors in the kindergarten-2nd grade division with teammate Dempzy Foley right on his heels in second place. Traiten Gorr was the best of the best as the Mat Rats placed four grapplers in the 3rd-4th grade bracket. Cole Murray and McKenzy Foley took second places, along with Hayden Arneson in fourth.
Reave Lincoln grabbed a first place in the 5th-6th grade division with Ryan Hughes taking second and Terri Holmes in fourth.
Dusty Burkhalter was all alone in the 7th-8th grade division places, but can sleep easier with his first-place medal.
Two mats took their skills to Iowa-Grant and Whitewater as well this weekend, with Arneson getting a second fourth-place finish in Iowa-Grant and Aaron Hesgard claiming a second-place finish in Whitewater
