NEW GLARUS - Marshall Bluff Bow Hunters held its annual mid-winter banquet on Saturday, March 8 at Tofflers Pub and Grill.
There were 28 members, families, and guests that attended the event.
A program highlighted Marshall Bluff's archery accomplishments for 2013. Emcee, Paul Rieder, presented "The year in review," which covered acquisition of target bunkers, an update of practice range and a new steel roof for the clubhouse.
Vice President Kevin Steele awarded Jeff Zanow, Monticello, a framed certificate for winning the National Field Archery Association Summer League, which had 14 participants. Zanow was absent at the event
The Biggest Buck award was presented to Randy Thompson, Brodhead, by club president, Ryan Indergand. Thompson's buck scored 154 2/8 gross, and netted 141 7/8. His name has been placed on the organization's "Big Buck Plaque." The plaque began in 1978, and now holds 26 names, with some names listed more than once. In 1994 and 2011, no names were listed. Three years ago, the plate had to be replaced because it was full.
Paul Rieder gave two presentations - one about the find of two locked dead bucks that were found by a friend of his during the gun deer season. The 19-inch and 20-inch spread deers were locked by a "fishhook" brow tine.
The evening ended with a "White Elephant" club raffle with all proceeds going to the group's target fund.
