The Warrior Invitational Boys and Girls Track meet took place at South Wayne on May 8 with Monroe, Black Hawk, Sugar River, Albany, Argyle-Pecatonica, and Monticello competing. In boys, Monroe was 2nd with 90 points, Albany 3rd (71 points), Black Hawk 4th (53 points) Belleville-New Glarus 6th (40 points), and Monticello 9th (19 points). In girls, Black Hawk was 2nd with 96 points. Argyle-Pecatonica 4th (79.5 points), Albany 5th (62 points), Belleville-New Glarus 7th (40 points), and Monroe 8th (33 points. Cassville-Potosi won both the boys and girls meets. Cassville-Potosi boys had 155 points and their girls team had 115 points.
In the boys competition, in the 100 meter dash, the top area finisher was junior Shane Wand, who was fourth with a time of 12.19 seconds. Wand also came in second in the 200 meter dash in 24.84 seconds. In the 400 meter dash, Monroe’s Landon Smith, a freshman, took third in 57.41 seconds. The boys 800 meter run saw Brooks Wachholz of Albany take second place with a time of 2:12.68. In the boys 1600 meter run, freshman Weston Huntsman of Monroe was a second place finisher in 5:06.32. The 3200 meter run is where freshman Nathan Johnson of Monticello came in third place in 12:45.10. The top area finisher in the 110 meter hurdles was sophomore Barrett Ferrell of Argyle-Pecatonica who was second with a time of 11.97 seconds. Argyle-Pecatonica placed second and third in the 300 meter hurdles as freshman Ayden Slater took second in 43.57 seconds and Braydon Slater was third in 46.12 seconds. The Black Warriors 4x100 meter relay team took first place with senior Beau Bredeson, senior James Holland, senior Griffin Komprood, and freshman Aiden Mosely taking control of the track in 50.96 seconds.
Albany had the top 4x100 meter relay team as sophomore Casey Cole, junior Kamron Parker, senior Thomas Hall, and senior Caleb Smith took first place in 48.29 seconds. Cassville-Potosi won the 4x200 meter relay with the Belleville-New Glarus relay team of freshman Matt Allen, freshman Kaden Dammen, freshman Nolan Hisel, and freshman Brogan Hoelscher taking second place in 1:43.05. The Monroe Cheesemakers got a first place finish in the 4x800 meter relay as senior Kylan Ditsworth, senior Austin Fuller, freshman Weston Huntsman, and freshman Landon Smith blazed the track in 9:20.82. The boys high jump saw Tyler Miyamoto of Belleville-New Glarus get second place with a high jump of five feet, 10 inches. Junior Kamron Parker of the Albany Comets was the winner of the long jump as he jumped 17 feet, 10.5 inches to take first place. Parker also took home first place in the boys triple jump with a jump of 39 feet, four inches. Albany’s Caleb Smith, a senior, earned himself a first place finish in the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, one inch and first place in the discus with a throw of 144 feet, three inches.
In girls, sophomores Maddy Place and Emily Curran of Black Hawk were second and third in the 100 meter dash with Place finishing second (13.45 seconds) and Curran taking third (13.49 seconds). Place was also third in the 200 meter dash in a time of 27.76 seconds. Taking third place in the 400 meter dash was freshman Emma Thompson of Albany in 1:07.52. Junior Mya Milz was the second place finisher is the 800 meter run in 2:34.49. Another runner from Albany, sophomore Lydia Ahnen finished in first place in the 1600 meter run, crossing the finish line in 6:15.56. Argyle-Pecatonica junior Loretta Tisch captured first place in the 100 meter hurdles with a winning time of 17.33 seconds. The top area finisher in the 300 meter hurdles sophomore Molly Shares of Belleville-New Glarus in 55:07 seconds. Argyle-Pecatonica’s 4x100 meter relay team of sophomore Brooke Wellnitz, freshman Calla Stateler, sophomore Aleah Harris, and sophomore Avery Webster topped the rest of the field in 1:03.11.
First place in the 4x100 meter relay went to the Albany Comets relay team of freshman Raegan Hollis, freshman Ali Flood, senior Emma Grosz, and freshman Emma Thompson who got the job done in 59.59 seconds. The Black Hawk Warriors got first place out of their 4x200 meter relay team with sophomore Maddy Place, sophomore Emily Curran, freshman Makayla Curran, and junior Mya Milz completing their trip around the track in 1:53.54. Another Black Hawk relay team, the 4x800, saw senior Alyssa Broge, junior Payton Stietz, sophomore Sammy Prescher, and sophomore Jaci Kammes take second place in 12:59.99. In the field events, freshman Isla Jorenby of Argyle-Pecatonica was the first place winner in the high jump as she jumped four feet, eight inches. Emma Thompson of Albany took third place in the long jump as she jumped 14 feet, .50 inch. Brooke Wellnitz of Argyle-Pecatonica placed second in the triple jump, measured at 31 feet, four inches. Senior Lillyana Morales took first place in the discus throw as she tossed the discus 97 feet, nine inches. She also came in second in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, .50 inches.
