LA CROSSE — Each year of her high school career, Argyle-Pecatonica senior Anna Tisch had qualified for the WIAA Division 3 state meet in the 300-meter hurdles but never made the podium as a top-6 finisher. She was the closest a season ago, making the finals and finishing seventh. At the state meet at UW-La Crosse May 31-June 1, she finally grabbed a podium spot, crossing the final goal off her bucket list.
“It feels good to finally make the podium my senior year,” Tisch said. “I was expecting to get a little higher, but it’s okay. I made it. I reached all my goals — to break the school record and make the podium this year.”
Tisch was second in preliminaries with a time of 46.03 and fell to fifth in the finals with a time of 46.46.
Albany’s Bryce Hughes had two podium finishes on the weekend, improving from the 2023 season. That year, Hughes merely qualified in the high jump and long jump. Saturday, he finished fifth in the long jump (20-11.25) and sixth in the high jump (6-00).
