MONROE — The Cheesemakers went from one impressive Badger South win to another. Four days after knocking off ranked Stoughton on the road, Monroe stifled Oregon at home, 71-59 Dec. 17.
Cade Meyer led the Cheesemakers with 23 points, while JT Seagreaves had 12, Tyler Matley 11 and Max Golembiewski eight.
Oregon sharpshooter Erik Victorson was held to just 10 points, while Brandon Kerns led the Panthers with 17. Ryne Panzer added 11 for Oregon (3-3, 1-2 Badger South).
Monroe (4-1, 3-0) is the only remaining unbeaten team in the conference. The Cheesemakers were slated to play at Fort Atkinson Dec. 20 before the holiday break, and then host New Glarus in a nonconference game Dec. 27. Edgewood (2-4, 1-2) will travel to Monroe Jan. 2 to open the 2020 slate.
New Glarus 80, Barneveld 38
NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights found the hot hands and kept feeding the fire in a massive nonconference win Dec. 16.
Connor Siegenthaler hit five 3-pointers, including three in the first half, to help spark New Glarus. Teammate Garrett James also had three 3s before halftime and hit four overall, and Carter Siegenthaler added a trio of triples himself.
New Glarus led 49-12 at halftime thanks to the hot shooting and coasted in the second half. Connor Siegenthaler and James each finished with 17 points for New Glarus, while Carter Siegenthaler added 15. The Knights were 6 of 9 from the free throw line, but, with 12 3s in the game, outscored the Eagles 36-6 on shots from deep. Jack Thompson led Barneveld with 14 points.
Brodhead 82, Big Foot 67
BRODHEAD — Owen Leifker hit five 3s as the Cardinals scored a solid Rock Valley Conference victory Dec. 17.
Leifker finished with 20 points to lead Brodhead in scoring. Connor Green added 18, Chase Harnack scored 11, Brady Malkow notched nine and Cade Walker and Devon Anderson each chipped in with eight points. Big Foot was led by Gus Foster (27) and Tyler Wilson (22).
Fouls were frequent in the game, with nine players receiving at least four fouls, and each bench was warned for behavior. The Cardinals were 24 of 32 from the charity stripe, while Big Foot was 16 of 27. Brodhead outshot Big Foot from deep as well, hitting 11 3-pointers to just three from the Chiefs.
Brodhead led by 10 at the half.
Darlington 75, Boscobel 55
BOSCOBEL — The Redbirds shot nearly 50% from the field and dominated Boscobel in the second half of a Dec. 17 SWAL matchup. Darlington went into halftime leading by just four points at 29-25, but outscored the host Bulldogs by 16 in the second half.
Carter Lancaster led the way for Darlington with 24 points on 7 of 11 shooting. Lancaster was a perfect 8 for 8 from the line and 2 of 2 from deep. Cayden Rankin added 14 points, five rebounds and four assists; Curtis Stone had nine points and six boards; Ross Stauffacher had 10 points and seven boards; and Easton Evenstad had eight points.
Darlington was 28 of 57 (49.1%) from the field, 5 of 15 (33.3%) from deep and 23 of 42 (54.7%) from inside the arc. The Redbirds were 14 of 18 from the line.
Juda 36, Madison Country Day 29
JUDA — Avery Sheaffer scored 15 points to lead the Panthers in a nonconference win Dec. 16.
Payton Johnson scored eight points and Aaron Makos added seven. Makos, Trent Anderson and Gavin Kammerer each had six rebounds.
Juda led 19-11 at halftime.
Parkview 70, Black Hawk 55
SOUTH WAYNE — The Warriors lost a nonconference game Dec. 16 thanks to a slow start.
Parkview led 48-25 at halftime and never let host Black Hawk get back into the game in the second half.
Clayton Stietz led the Warriors with 14 points, while Lucas Flanagan had 12, Thatcher Schliem 10 and Avery Baumgartner seven. Tyler Oswald had 25 for the Vikings, while teammate Connor Simonson added 19.
In other area scores, Albany fell to Belmont 61-49 in a nonconference game Dec. 16.
