Pecatonica falls to Barneveld in extras

BLANCHARDVILLE — Despite forcing extra innings, Pecatonica fell to Barneveld 12-10 in the eighth inning of a Six Rivers East Conference game on Tuesday, April 18. Both runs were unearned, as the Vikings committed nine errors in the game.

Schraepfer was the only batter to reach base in the bottom half of the eighth, hitting a single to center. She finished the day 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles and four RBIs. 

Diana Hendrickson suffered the loss. All five runs scored on her were unearned. She scattered five hits, struck out four batters and walked one.


BRODHEAD 5, JEFFERSON 2

BRODHEAD — With a three-run fifth, the Cardinals completed the sweep of the Eagles on Tuesday, April 18.

Mckenna Young and Sophia Leitzen finished 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI each. Young pitched a complete game, striking out 15 batters without issuing a walk. She gave up two runs on five hits.


MONROE 7, EDGEWOOD 4

MADISON — The Cheesemakers overcame a 3-2 deficit in the fifth to defeat the Crusaders on Tuesday, April 18. The win gave Monroe a 1/2 game lead on Edgewood in the conference standings.

The top three in Monroe’s order — Kaegann Paulson, Katrina Sathoff and Olivia Feller — recorded two hits each, while Paulson and Sathoff drove in two runs each. Paulson earned the win in the circle, scattering four hits for two earned runs.


JUDA-ALBANY 9, MNG 1

MONTICELLO — A pair of four-run innings gave the Panthers a Six Rivers East Conference victory over the Ponies on Tuesday, April 18. 

Alana Durtschi and Briliey Swedlund went a combined 7-for-9 with four RBIs to lead the offense. Four other players also recorded multiple hit games. The pitching staff of Avary and Emerson Briggs threw a two-hit, one-run game. They struck out a combined 13 batters while walking six.

Monticello-New Glarus recorded just two hits — a double each from Molly Olson and Karlee Wilkins. Kira Whisler suffered the loss, giving up five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings pitched. 

In girls soccer, Sugar River defeated Platteville 8-0 on Tuesday, April 18. The Raiders received two goals each from Jenna Gentilli, Anya Brenkman and Hannah Boldebuck. The Pioneers were unable to put a shot on goal.
