HORICON — Parkview-Albany overcame a 24-point deficit to defeat Deerfield 46-36 and claim a share of the Trailways South conference. The Vikings (5-0) won the conference outright in 2023, and need to defeat Johnson Creek (1-4) to do the same this season.
Sam Schwengels (190) began the comeback, earning a forfeit. Wes Egan (215) then pinned Xavier Valdes in just 57 seconds. The 285-pound match featured two girls, with PA’s Sydney Coyne pinning Jaretzy Claudio in 36 seconds.
Lexi Hanson (106) made it to the second period before falling to Matthew Morrison. Trevor Haugen (113) received a forfeit, bumping Slater Valley up to 120. He won by an 11-0 major decision, and Danny Finley (126) followed with a pin to take a 34-30 lead.
Deerfield regained the lead with a pin at 132, but Casey Hume (138) gave Parkview-Albany the 40-36 edge with a first-period pin. Peter Roth (144) then sealed the win with a pin of Bryce Casteel.
The Vikings rode the wave, beating Dodgeland 60-12. PA received 42 points from forfeit.
