Area boys basketball teams Monticello and Darlington have exited the WIAA tournament in the sectional semifinal round.

In a Division 4 matchup, Darlington lost to rival Cuba City 53-44.

In Division 5, Monticello fell to Randolph 76-54.

The sectional semifinals are scheduled to be played Saturday, March 14, with the state tournament to follow March 19-21. However, the games will not be played at the Kohl Center, as was originally planned. The WIAA will update schools and fans on what the final games of the girls basketball state tournament (including Black Hawk's 9 a.m. game against Wausau Newman Catholic) as well as the boys tournament early morning on Friday, March 13.
