MONROE — The Monroe High School esports team is wrapping up its fall season in the Wisconsin High School Esports Association.
The Cheesemakers have competed in Overwatch and Super Smash Brothers, beginning in early November. Overwatch is a team-based shooter battle game. Super Smash Brothers is a battle royale where players pick characters from around the Nintendo universe.
Monroe is 0-7 in Division 2 in Overwatch with just one match left to play against Merrill Jan. 6. Meanwhile, Shullsburg is 5-2 in Division 3.
In Super Smash Brothers, Monroe is 2-4 overall in Division 2, fourth in the Link Conference. Shullsburg is 4-3. Monroe’s final match is Jan. 5 against Seymour, while Shullsburg is facing off against Walden.
Shortly after the fall season ends, the winter season begins with Rocket League and SMITE. Rocket League is a hybrid game where players drive vehicles while playing soccer. SMITE is a third-person multiplayer arena battle game.
