FORT ATKINSON — The Cheesemakers entered the holiday break with an unblemished mark in the Badger South thanks to a 68-44 win over the Blackhawks Dec. 20.

Cade Meyer and JT Seagreaves led Monroe with 17 points, while Carson Leuzinger added 14. Ten different Cheesemakers scored in the game. Fort Atkinson was led in scoring by Caleb Haffelder’s 17.

Monroe led 32-18 at halftime.


Darlington 78, New Glarus 61

DARLINGTON — The Glarner Knights had thoughts of knocking off the state’s fourth-ranked team, but those ideas fizzled out when the home Redbirds flew away with the lead at halftime thanks to a 20-1 run.

Darlington, ranked fourth in the Division 4 WBCA poll, went on a 14-0 run to gain control of the game in the first half, then made it a 20-1 effort shortly after. New Glarus had led 13-12 with about 10 minutes left in the opening half, but the Redbirds held a 42-20 advantage at the break. 

In the second half, Darlington’s lead reached as much as 30 before the Knights began to chip away at the deficit. New Glarus eventually brought the score back to within 13 points in the final minute at 74-61.

Carter Lancaster led Darlington with 19 points, while Cayden Rankin had 17, and Curtis Stone and Easton Evenstad finished with 13.

Garrett James’ 16 points paced New Glarus, with teammates Mason Martinson and Darris Schuett each adding 12, and Connor Siegenthaler 13.


Monticello 54, Juda 39

MONTICELLO — The seventh-ranked Ponies got a scare Dec. 19, as Juda kept Six Rivers East favorite Monticello within striking distance all night.

The two squads went into halftime ties at 23, but the Ponies closed the game on a 31-16 run over the final 18 minutes.

Avery Scheaffer led Juda with 12 points, while Trent Anderson and Gavin Kammerer each had 10. Juda entered the game with just three wins over their last 35 games dating back to 2017.

Reece Rufer scored 23 for Monticello and now sits just 21 points away from the 1,000-point milestone in his career. Teammate Pete Gustafson has 18 for the Ponies.


Barneveld 55, Pecatonica 44

BLANCHARDVILLE — The Vikings led 21-17 at halftime, but the Eagles outscored the hosts 38-23 in the second half of their Six Rivers East game Dec. 19.

In other area scores, Black Hawk defeated Argyle 44-36 Dec. 19.
