MADISON — The Cheesemakers’ boys track and field team took fifth in the Class B division at the annual Madison West Relays March 30.
Jordan Montgomery was second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.62 seconds, just 5/100ths behind La Crosse Logan champion Tyler Harris. Monroe’s Nick Bansley was fifth (6.76).
Bansley was also fifth in the 200 (24.86), and Montgomery took fifth in the long jump (20-feet, 2.25-inches).
Dylan Fahrney was seventh in the 400 (55.32), and Jake Brower was seventh in the 800 (2:10.67).
In the 1,600, Kyle Legler was second (4:45.31), and Alex Henry finished ninth in the 3,200 (11:15.80).
Monroe’s 1,600-relay team of Brower, Legler, Fahrney and Trevor Boll took fourth (8:50.37).
UW-Platteville Invitational, March 28
PLATTEVILLE — Albany’s Evan Blumer won the shot put at the UW-Platteville High School Invitational March 28. Blumer’s throw of 47-05 was the top throw by more than six feet.
Kaitlyn Trow was sixth in the 55-dash (8.18), while Kristin O’Bel was eighth (8.31). O’Bel took third in the 200 (29.09), less than 2/10ths of a second behind champion Sara Kilburg of Easton Valley (28.92).
Megan Anderson finished 11th in the 800 (2:53.85) and sixth in the 1,600 (6:19.68).
The Comets 800-relay team of Payton Wachholz, Olivia Roth, Trow and O’Bel finished third (1:58.26), while the 3,200-relay team of Wachholz, Aalyiah Landen, and Haley and Alyssa Knauf were second (10:51.83).
Libby Beck was the girls champion in the shot put with a throw of 39-feet, nearly five feet better that the next closest competitor.
