BARABOO — In its second trip to Baraboo in less than two weeks, Monroe-New Glarus finished sixth in the conference tournament with 179.5 points. Edgewood won the meet with 549 points.
The Cheesemakers were led by Megan Chapman, Delaney Lynch, Riley Hoesly and Anna Zenter.
The group took third in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:47.38. There was just five seconds separating the second- through fourth-place teams—Oregon at 3:44.69, MNG and Baraboo at 3:49.66.
Individually, Lynch and Chapman also had third-place finishes. Lynch swam the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.19. She came in less than a second behind winner Kennedy Faris (Oregon) and second-place finisher Savannah Acker (Sauk). Chapman edged Riley Talmage of Sauk by 0.75 seconds for third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:29.20).
Chapman also had a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.51. In the 200-yard IM, Zenter also took sixth (2:24.13).
Hoesly and Lynch—from the third-place 400-yard freestyle relay team—paired with Piper Faber and Maggie Piper in the 200-yard medley relay. The team edged Mount Horeb’s by less than a second for sixth place (2:03.91).
Monroe-New Glarus travels to Sauk Prairie for the WIAA sectional meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
