Eli Leonard, a New Glarus resident that open enrolls to Mount Horeb, recently announced his commitment to wrestle at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As just a junior, Leonard is happy to have his recruiting process out of the way. “I get to put the recruiting business all set aside and just work on bettering myself. It ... makes me constantly push myself to do better.” Leonard chose Madison for both its atmosphere and opportunity. “Madison has always been a home to me. ... Madison also has a very prestigious academic program, setting me up for my future as well as after wrestling.” Leonard is a two-time state placer, finishing fifth with the Division 2 Sugar River program in 2023 and fourth with the Division 1 Mount Horeb-Barneveld program in 2024.
