MONROE — The Badger Conference released its hockey all-conference selections on Thursday, March 7. Monroe coach Barry Einbeck was named co-Coach of the Year in boys hockey, while Rock County coach Luke Steurer was named Coach of the Year in girls hockey. Fury forward Emma Kligora was the Badger Conference Player of the Year.
Einbeck coached the Monroe boys hockey co-op to a 13-8-1 overall record and 8-4 in conference. The Cheesemakers tied for second in the league with McFarland and Sauk Prairie. It was the team’s best conference finish in program history. Einbeck shared Coach of the Year honors with Edgewood’s Pete Rothering. With Rothering at the helm, the Crusaders won the conference title (12-0) and went on to make a WIAA Division 1 state appearance.
Monroe’s Gavin Roth was also honored as one of two first-team all-conference defensemen. He was third on the team in points (20). Roth tallied 14 assists with six goals.
Wyatt Janecke was named to the all-conference second team as a forward. He was the team leader in goals (15) and second in assists (14) for a team-best 29 points. Janecke finished with 66 career points, which puts him sixth overall in program history.
Brody Goode earned honorable mention all-conference with four goals and seven assists for 11 points.
Steurer coached the Rock County Fury girls hockey co-op to a 16-8-0 overall record and 11-1 mark in conference, claiming the title. The last time the team won conference was the 2020-21 season.
Emma Kligora was named Player of the Year and one of two unanimous selections to the all-conference first team. The other unanimous selection was Metro Lynx’s Emma Stebbeds. Emma Kligora led her team with 37 goals. With a second-best 20 assists, she paced the Fury with 57 points. In addition to leading the conference, Emma Kligora led the state in goals and was third for points.
Sophia Young was selected to the all-conference first team as a defensemen. She scored three goals with seven assists for nine points — which was fourth-best on the team. Young also won the Wisconsin Prep Hockey Rachel Kenyon Award for being the team’s unsung hero. Kenyon selected Young for the award from a field of eight nominees.
Jillian Traver also made the all-conference first team at goalie. She played over 1,200 minutes in net for the Fury, posting a 16-8-0 record. Traver tallied four shutouts with a 2.09 goals against average and .933 save percentage. These marks put her second in the state for wins, eighth for goals against average, and fourth for save percentage.
Ava Kligora earned second-team all-conference at forward. She led the team with 26 assists. Combined with 16 goals, she finished with 42 points. Her assist mark was third-best in the state, while her point total was eighth-best.
Macy Murphy received honorable mention recognition. She scored 19 goals with 16 assists for 35 points. She was the third-highest point getter for the Fury.
