BARNEVELD —Argyle defeated the Eagles 6-2 on Monday, April 24 behind Max Godfrey’s 20-strikeout performance. Godfrey struck out the side in five innings. Seven strikeouts were looking while the other 13 came swinging.
Six of the game’s eight runs were scored in the fourth inning. Godfrey and Will Helfvogt hit back-to-back singles to score the first run. Weston Ganshert drew a bases-loaded walk, and in the next at-bat Dawson Miller was hit by the pitch. Ike Waage then scored on a passed ball.
Godfrey, Hilfvogt and Waage finished with two hits each.
NG no-hits Benton-Shullsburg
BENTON — Leyton Mihlbauer and Jake Roth combined for a no-hitter during New Glarus’s 16-0 win over Benton-Shullsburg on Tuesday, April 25.
The offense came to play, too, scoring in all five innings to enforce a mercy rule. The Knights’ five-run fifth featured six walks a single and an RBI groundout. Patrick Alt went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored to pace the offense. The pitching staff struck out seven batters.
Extra-base hits hurt Monroe
MOUNT HOREB — Monroe fell to Mount Horeb 4-2 on Tuesday, April 25. The Vikings hit four extra-base hits to the Cheesemakers’ one. Tucker Markham finished the day 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. George Brukwicki suffered the loss.
Redbirds roll Ponies
DARLINGTON — The Redbirds pounded out 13 hits in their 22-0 win over Monticello-Albany on Monday, April 24. At leadoff, Tye Crist went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and three runs scored. Maddox Goebel picked up the win.
Pinch hitter Dominic Schroeder collected the only hit for the Ponies. Nate Stokstad recorded one out in the loss.
Darlington gave up a four-run lead in the bottom of the seventh, falling to Mineral Point 11-10. Gage Banfield went 3-for-4 but suffered the loss on the mound.
Turner shuts out Brodhead-Juda
BELOIT — The Trojan pitching staff threw a two-hit shutout, beating the Cardinals 4-0 on Tuesday, April 25. Sam Searls and Gabe Bockhop recorded the only hits. Evan Senobe suffered the loss.
