NEW GLARUS — Sugar River senior midfielder Jack Gentilli capped his prep soccer career with a first-team all-conference nod and was voted as the Capitol Conference Player of the Year.
Gentilli scored 17 goals and added 10 assists to lead the Raiders with 44 total points this season, including 12 goals and six assists in nine conference games. Sugar River finished the season 14-2-1 overall and lost in the sectional semifinal to eventual state-bound McFarland, the top seeded team in the bracket. Gentilli was also a first-team honoree in 2016 as a sophomore and was a second-team selection as a junior in 2017.
Senior defender Connor DeLorme was one of four Raiders to be named to the 2018 Capitol all-conference first team list. DeLorme was all-conference all four years in high school, earning a second team nod as a freshman and then was a first-team selection each year since. DeLorme had five goals and five assists while playing stellar defense for Sugar River in 2018.
Also on the first-team were seniors Jaden Kreklow and Justin Knoebl. Both Kreklow, a forward, and Knoebl, a midfielder, scored eight goals and had six assists on the season. Kreklow was first-team as a sophomore in 2016 and was a second-team selection in 2017, while Knoebl was a second-team all-conference pick as a junior in 2017.
Junior forward Charlie Douma was a second-place all-conference selection this season after netting 13 goals and dishing out three assists, with all three assists and nine goals coming in the nine conference matchups.
Senior defender Cole Kleiboer was a second-team selection this year for the Raiders after scoring first-team honors as a junior in 2017 and honorable mention as a sophomore.
Senior forward Logan Winklepleck was named honorable mention for Sugar River after scoring two goals with seven assists this season.
Sugar River had seven players honored in all, with four on the first-team, a mark only equaled by Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld. Watertown Luther Prep had eight players honored, with two on the first team. Cambridge-Deerfield had just one first-team player and seven total players honored, while Lodi had six selected, Lake Mills, Lakeside Lutheran and Columbus each had five picked and Wisconsin Dells and Dodgeland-Hustisford netted three selections each.
Vasquez only Cheesemaker honored
MONROE — Cheesemaker senior defender Victor Vasquez was the lone Monroe player to earn postseason all-conference honors for the 2018 fall season. Vasquez was named to the Badger South honorable mention all-conference list.
Conference champion Oregon had four players named to the first-team and nine players honored overall. Monona Grove, which finished second in the Badger South, had eight players honored, including four first-team selections. Madison Edgewood had five players honored, Milton four, Stoughton three, Watertown two and Fort Atkinson one.
Monroe finished a win behind Fort Atkinson in the bottom of the conference.
