NEW GLARUS — The Knights scored all six of their runs in the first three innings to defeat Boscobel 6-3 in the WIAA Regional Quarterfinal on Thursday, May 25.
Easton Dreyfus sparked a two-out rally in the first, as the senior reached on a single to left. Patrick Alt then drew a five-pitch walk, setting up Matt Roth. On the second pitch of his at-bat, Roth lined a two-RBI double to center. He came around to score on an RBI-single from Jake Roth.
After a three-up, three-down top of the second, the Knights scored another two runs in the bottom half of the frame. Ethan Friedrich led off with a single and Leyton Mihlbauer walked. Ashlin Mihlbauer moved them into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Friedrich scored on a passed ball, and Leyton Mihlbauer scored on an error.
An RBI-single from Leyton Mihlbuer in the third gave New Glarus its sixth run.
Boscobel rallied in the top of the seventh for two runs, but Alt ended the game with a flyout.
The Knights tallied nine hits, with two hits each from Matt Roth, Friedrich and Dreyfus. Roth’s two hits were RBI doubles. On the bump, Alt gave up three earned runs on seven hits. He struck out nine and walked just one.
