DARLINGTON — In its first action of the fall season, the Darlington girls golf team fell to Southwestern-Cuba City-Benton by one stroke (204-203) in the Ringen Invite on Friday, Aug. 11. Despite the loss on paper, head coach Molly Rice was happy with the results.

“The girls golfed very well for their first meet,” Rice said. “They should be very proud of themselves. It turned out to be a beautiful day for the first meet, and it started the season out on a great note.”

Sophie Wiegel led the Redbirds with a 41, which was the lowest score of the meet. She recorded four pars, four bogeys and one double bogey. Josie Mesiter followed with a 50, while Sydney Webster carded a 54. Alyza Johnson and Erica  Meylor rounded out the group with scores of 61 and 59, respectively.
