MONROE — On senior night, the Cheesemakers walked away with a convincing 48-32 win over Watertown Dec. 17 on the stage in the Performing Arts Center.

Starting the night with the 132-pound weight class, Watertown took the first four matches, which included a pair of pins and a forfeit at 152.

Monroe’s strength is from 160 through the heavyweights, however. A Watertown forfeit at 160 made the team score 21-6, but Monroe’s Max Patterson lost via technical fall to Brian Kronquist at 170.

The Cheesemakers then won the next seven matches to secure the win. Of the seven matches, six were by pin-fall, and the other was a Watertown forfeit at 106.

Alex Witt won the 182-pound bout with a pin in 1:38. Deion Hargrove pinned his opponent in just 19 seconds at 195. Kelsey Dominguez (220) and Bodie Minder (285) both won with pins in under 50 seconds to bring the score to put Monroe in the lead in scoring at 30-26. 

Jack Dubach was handed the win at 106 with a forfeit, then Garrett Voegeli pinned Emilio Hernandez in the second period in the 113 match. At 120, Kyle Haldiman pinned his opponent in just 53 seconds. Watertown would win the final match of the night, as Monroe’s Roderick Rath was pinned by Edward Wilkowski in just seven seconds.

Whitewater 60, Brodhead-Juda 19

WHITEWATER — The Cardinals ran into one of the area’s top teams during a dual match Dec. 17.

Jason Starr scored a win for Brodhead-Juda with a second-period pin in the 145-pound match. Brian McCullough won the next bout for the Cardinals with a tight 7-6 decision over David Cushman at 152.

Brodhead-Juda also got wins from Cole Hoesly and Jacob Lohmar. Hoesly won the 170-pound match with a pin just five seconds before the end of the second period. Lohmar won the 106 match with a 13-5 major decision.

Whitewater won by pin in six matches, and scored four forfeit wins.
