BRODHEAD — Despite committing three errors and being outhit 11-6, Brodhead defeated Mount Horeb 6-5 on Saturday, April 6. 

The Vikings threatened in the top of the seventh with three runs on three hits, a walk and an error. Mount Horeb had the tying run on third, but relief pitcher Sophia Leitzen escaped the jam by inducing a flyout to Tessa Kloepping in right.

Leitzen and cleanup Leah Rear accounted for four of the Cardinals’ six hits — both smashing two doubles. Risum didn’t record a hit, but she reached base twice with two walks. In the circle, she picked up the win, going five innings. Risum gave up two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.


ORANGEVILLE 13, ARGYLE-BLACK HAWK 3

ORANGEVILLE, Ill. — The Orioles had a 2-0 lead against the Broncos going into the bottom of the third, but Addyson Wheeler’s grand slam put Orangeville up for good in a loss for ABH on Saturday, April 6.

The Orioles collected four hits, highlighted by a home run from Maddy Lange. The senior went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, a stolen base and walk. Mya McNett suffered the loss, giving up nine earned runs on 15 hits. She struck out four and walked four.
