MONROE — The Six Rivers Conference recently announced its league honors, where state-qualifiers Argyle-Pecatonica and Albany-Monticello ran the board. Seven Orioles and six Space Stallions were honored.
Argyle-Pecatonica sophomore Kylie Butler was named co-Player of the Year with Albany-Monticello’s Alana Durtschi.
Butler averaged 22.4 ppg and scored her 1,000th career point in Argyle-Pecatonica’s sectional semifinal win over Wauzeka-Steuben. She already has a scholarship offer from UW-Green Bay, where her sister Bailey currently plays.
Freshman teammate Brooke Wellnitz also earned first-team all-conference. She averaged 14.4 ppg and 8.9 rpg. In the WIAA Division 5 girls basketball semifinals, Wellnitz grabbed 17 rebounds, which at the time was just one shy of the tournament single-game record.
Anna Tisch, the team’s lone starting senior, nabbed second-team all-conference honors. She was third on the team in scoring with 8.2 ppg and second in rebounds with 5.6 rpg.
Avari Steiner and Loretta Tisch received honorable mention. The pair averaged just over 7 ppg.
Alexis Rosenstiel was named to the Sportsmanship team.
Argyle-Pecatonica head coach Jen Krogman was named Coach of the Year. She led the first-year co-op to a 26-2 record, Six Rivers East Conference title, regional title, sectional title and state appearance as the 1-seed. AP started the 2023-24 season ranked No. 7 in Division 5 and have climbed to No. 1, holding that position for the final two WisSports.net Coaches Polls.
Durstchi earned her second straight Player of the Year honors, this time sharing with Butler. Durtschi eclipsed 1,000 career points on Dec. 14 in a win over Black Hawk. Durtschi finished with 1,257 points. In addition to her success on the court, Durtschi earned the WBCA Legacy Leadership Award. She averaged 13.1 ppg and shot 40% from 3-point range (45-for-110) her senior season.
Junior teammate Abby Hollis also earned first-team all-conference. This season, she averaged 11.8 ppg. At the line, Hollis went 41-for-47 for 87%. She’s also shot 67-for-164 (0.409) from 3-point range, including the game-tying and game-winning 3-pointers in the WIAA Division 5 girls state basketball championship.
Dalana Trumpy was selected to the all-conference second team. She was one of three Space Stallions to average double figures (10 ppg). She also averaged 5.5 rpg.
Molly Olson also earned second-team all-conference. She averaged 9.2 ppg and made 42 threes. Olson was instrumental to the defense, snagging 56 steals.
Avary Briggs, the fifth starter, nabbed honorable mention honors.
Anna Ellinger was named to the Sportsmanship team.
Albany-Monticello finished 27-3 overall, winning the program’s first WIAA Division 5 girls basketball title. Along the way, they earned sectional and regional titles. They were conference runners-up to Argyle-Pecatonica.
Black Hawk had six Warriors honored.
Kendra Haldiman was named to the second team. She was third on the team in scoring with 7.8 ppg. She tallied 43 assists and led the team with 68 steals.
Maddy Lange was also a second-team selection. She led the team with 13.6 ppg, scoring a season-high 23 points against Argyle-Pecatonica on Dec. 8. Lange also led on the glass with 5.8 rpg. She registered eight blocks.
Teammates Hailey Wellnitz, Maddy Place, Keira Haldiman and Mya Milz earned honorable mention.
Veronica Cheatham was named to the Sportsmanship team.
Black Hawk finished 13-13 overall with a 3-5 mark in conference. The Warriors won their opening playoff game against Shullsburg, 45-37.
Juda’s Lavinia Rufer was tabbed to the honorable mention team, while Katie Brooks was named to the Sportsmanship team.
Juda finished 2-22 overall and 0-8 in league play.
