MINERAL POINT — The Argyle-Pecatonica boys golf team faced windy conditions on Tuesday, May 2 at the Dodge Point Country Club in Mineral Point. The Orioles finished sixth with a team score of 198 and were led by sophomore Alex Ruetten. Mineral Point won the meet with a 157.

“I give the kids credit for grinding out another round in 25 mph winds,” Argyle-Pecatonica head coach Chuck Chandler said. “Golf is not a lot of fun when you have trouble steadying yourself over shots. Alex played well again. He could’ve been a couple strokes better, which would have made him the medalist of this meet.”

The remaining top three scorers include Glenn Jayne (48), Kyle Theorin (55) and Max Robertson (56).

Darlington carded a score of 186 and finished fifth. The top four scorers were Oscar Thuli (42), Olin Johnson (43), Eli Aird (47) and Alex Fox (54).

Weather conditions were much the same for another SWAL meet on Monday, May 1 at the Deer Valley Golf Club in Barneveld.

Argyle-Pecatonica finished fifth with a team score of 209. Ruetten carded a 46, followed by Jayne (53), Theorin (54) and Robertson and Evan Dochnal, who both scored 56. Darlington took sixth, led by Johnson (49). Thuli (50), Aird (55) and Fox (58) were the remaining top scorers.
