Argyle-Pec downs East Dubuque, cracks D4 top 10

ARGYLE — Kylie Butler scored a career-high 36 points in Argyle-Pecatonica’s 71-54 win over East Dubuque in a nonconference game Tuesday, Dec. 3. 

In addition to Butler’s career night, Brooke Wellnitz recorded her second straight double-double, scoring 17 points with 10 rebounds. The Oriole defense continued to wreak havoc, stealing the ball 21 times, led by Wellnitz with six.

Argyle-Pecatonica, bumped up to Division 4 due to enrollment and WIAA’s new competitive balance rule, cracked the top 10 in the WisSports.net Coaches Poll at No. 10.


BELLEVILLE 48, 

LANCASTER 37

BELLEVILLE — The Wildcats shot 40% from 3-point range in a nonconference game against the Flying Arrows on Dec. 3. They also shot well from the free-throw line, converting on 74% of attempts. The two teams were nearly even in other statistical categories — rebounds (36-43), assists (8-8) and steals (10-10).


BRODHEAD 58, MARSHALL 37

BRODHEAD — In a battle of Cardinals, Brodhead came out on top thanks to a 27-point performance from Allie Dahl. She scored more than Marshall’s top two players combined — Tonri Justmann and Makayla Nemec with 10 points each.


DARLINGTON 47, 

RIVERDALE 36

MUSCODA — The Redbirds overcame a 22-16 deficit at halftime to defeat Chieftains in a SWAL game on Dec. 3. 

Maddie Gratz and Sadie Goebel led the team offensively, scoring 15 and 10 points, respectively. Catie Hartwig and Lilly Ritchie hit the boards hard, grabbing seven rebounds each. Defensively, Darlington allowed only four Riverdale players to score.

In other local basketball, New Glarus dropped a nonconference game to eighth-ranked Barneveld, 58-53.
